Wooden Fountain Pen - The Boss Style: Gidgee Timber

This fountain pen is created from gidgee timber. Australian gidgee wood is an acacia timber prized for its' strength and durability. Gidgee is one of Australia's hardest timbers. The heartwood is a deep, rich brown colour and the outer sapwood is very pale. Gidgee timber has a very fine grain and can be highly figured. The indigenous Kalkadoon people made nulla nulla's, shields, boomerangs, swords and clapsticks from gidgee’s rich, brown wood. The natural uniqueness in the woodgrain and timber colour variations, means that each wooden pen we create is one of a kind.

The fittings are rhodium plated, with rhodium being one of the rarest and most valuable precious metals found in the world. Rhodium is incredibly hard wearing, is resistant to corrosion and will not oxidise. Rhodium has a silvery white appearance. The Boss fountain pen features castings that are done by hand in 22k gold, showing great lustre and a rich, deep gold tone. It has a tough iridium nib made in Germany, approx 0.5mm of writing width and features a non-postable end cap.

This stunning fountain pen uses easily replaceable ink cartridges. The pen comes with one black ink cartridge and extra cartridges can be purchased below. It also features an environmentally friendly bonus piston converter that allows you to refill your pen from bottled ink. 

Each pen is created by an artisan who hand turns each pen on a lathe in North Brisbane. Using a meticulous thirteen step sanding process and 10 coats of CA we highlight the simple, innate beauty of the timber and create an exceptional, super glossy and durable finish.
