Story Wood Collection: Recycled Vintage Australian Red Cedar

This timber gift set features Australian red cedar with a story. The red cedar in this pen and letter opener used to be a dressing table. It was made in the 1940’s for Iris by her carpenter brother and spent many decades holding hairbrushes, mirrors and delicate embroidered handkerchiefs. When Iris passed away, the dresser was inherited by her daughter, Gail. Gail didn't have room in her home for the old but still so lovely dressing table, but wanted to preserve and honour her family heritage so she had pens made from the lovely vintage red cedar timber for herself and her three children (Iris’s grand children). This pen carries within it many family memories and comes with a story wood card.

This Sierra pen has 24k gold plated fittings and features a smooth click mechanism which reveals the nib. It is loaded with a quality black Parker style pen refill and is easily refillable.

The dagger style Kent letter opener is a handy addition to any household or office. It has quality gold plated fittings and will effortlessly slice open all your envelopes with ease, leaving lovely smooth paper edges. 

Each pen and letter opener is handcrafted by an artisan who turns each one on a lathe in North Brisbane. Using a meticulous thirteen step sanding and polishing process and 10 coats of CA we highlighted the simple, innate beauty of the timber and create an exceptional, super glossy and durable finish.
