This gift set is made from gidgee timber. Australian gidgee wood is an acacia timber prized for its strength and durability. Gidgee is one of Australia's hardest timbers. The heartwood is a deep, rich brown colour and the outer sapwood is very pale. Gidgee timber has a very fine grain and can be highly figured. The indigenous Kalkadoon people made nulla nulla's, shields, boomerangs, swords and clapsticks from gidgee’s rich, brown wood. It is popular today for knife making, turned bowls, pens and jewellery boxes and recently musical instrument makers have begun using it.

This pen and pencil is created by an artisan who hand turns each one on a wood lathe in North Brisbane. Using a meticulous thirteen step sanding and polishing process and 10 coats of CA we highlighted the simple, innate beauty of the timber and create an exceptional, super glossy and durable finish. The natural uniqueness in the woodgrain and timber colour variations, means that each wooden pen and pencil we create are one of a kind.

This pen and pencil set has chrome fittings and features a high quality, smooth, twist mechanism for the pen. The pen has black ink and takes a standard cross style pen refill. The pencil is a pacer style mechanical pencil and takes .7mm mechanical pencil refills. Refills for both the pen and pencil can be added below.
