This Sierra pen is turned from jacaranda timber. Jacaranda is a popular tree that is eye catching in spring throughout Australia with the tree ablaze with bright purple flowers. The timber is pale and creamy with a faint timber grain visible. It is not an Australian native tree but grows plentifully and is especially well known in the Grafton NSW region as well as Brisbane. Brisbane City Botanic Gardens is the site of Australia’s first grown jacaranda tree (planted in 1864). It was made famous by the artwork ‘Under the Jacaranda’ painted in1903. The first jacaranda remained tall and beautiful in the botanic gardens until 1979 when it was blown over in a cyclone. This jacaranda timber is from Redcliffe, QLD.

This Sierra is created by an artisan who hand turns each pen on a wood lathe in North Brisbane. Using a meticulous thirteen step sanding and polishing process and 10 coats of CA we highlighted the simple, innate beauty of the timber and create an exceptional, super glossy and durable finish.

This Sierra pen has black and chrome fittings and features a smooth click mechanism which reveals the nib. Sierra pens are also available in gold fittings. It takes a standard Parker style pen refill, and comes with a quality black ink refill, you can also purchase pen refills below.

This pen comes standard in a protective velvet pen sleeve. You can purchase a quality black pen box or engrave-able timber box below.
